From a Culture for Every Meal: Exploring the World of Homemade Probiotics
Whether you're a DIY enthusiast seeking a new hobby, a budding chef, or simply someone looking to improve their gut health, Cultures for Health has just the solution you need! From sourdough to kombucha, yogurt, and beyond, we're here to guide you on a rewarding journey towards a natural, gut-friendly lifestyle.
Cultures for Health was founded on the pursuit of sustainable living and a deeper understanding of traditionally prepared, nutritious foods. Our team, comprising bakers, brewers, cheesemakers, and more, is passionate about the benefits of culturing and fermentation. We love homemade cultured and fermented foods and beverages for their delicious taste, healthy goodness, and the rewarding DIY experience they offer.
If you're avoiding lactose or animal-based products but still want the probiotic benefits and deliciousness of yogurt, our vegan yogurt starter culture is the perfect solution. Homemade yogurt is not only more cost-effective but also has more live active cultures and no artificial preservatives - just the ingredients you choose. You can use this starter to culture a variety of dairy-free milks, including nut, seed, grain, and legume varieties.
Our yogurt starters come in powdered form, making them easy to store in the fridge or freezer until you're ready to activate them. While this is a thermophilic starter, meaning it cultures at 105-112°F, you can achieve this temperature using various appliances, such as a food dehydrator, folding proofer, crockpot, or even an insulated cooler with a heating pad.
With our vegan yogurt starter, you can culture up to 8 gallons of milk, resulting in approximately 4 gallons of yogurt. While you can use store-bought non-dairy milk, we recommend making your own to ensure minimal additives and preservatives, which can interfere with the culturing process.
If you can tolerate a bit of dairy, you can also maintain a dairy mother culture, such as our Heirloom Yogurt Starter, and use some of that batch to culture your plant-based milk, creating a unique, heirloom-style dairy-free yogurt.
Regardless of your preferences, we've got you covered with a wide range of yogurt-making products, including our Vegan Yogurt Starter Kit, Greek Yogurt Starter Culture, Bulgarian Yogurt Starter Culture, and more. Each of our cultures comes with step-by-step instructions to help you get started on your homemade probiotic journey.
So, whether you're a seasoned fermentation enthusiast or a newcomer to the world of cultured foods, Cultures for Health is here to empower you to create delicious, healthy, and rewarding homemade probiotics in the comfort of your own kitchen.
